As a homeowner, you have a big stake in the safety and cleanliness of your neighborhood. Perhaps you own a home that’s part of a community that shares common amenities, such as tennis courts, playground, community pool and,clubhouse, more. How can you ensure that your HOA community will be properly maintained and taken care of? One of the best ways is to become a volunteer board member with your homeowner’s association. HOA committee positions are made up of volunteers however, the satisfaction of knowing your community is being well taken care of gives board members a sense of accomplishment.

HURRICANE PREPARATION
Hurricane preparation
Important Items first!
1. Stay tuned to the news
2. Clean up outside your property with anything that could blow around.
3. Have your neighbor’s phone numbers and emergency contact information in case of an emergency.
4. Within 48 hours after the storm Vanessa will be in each community to assess the damage.
5. After the storm take pictures of any damage and send them to vanessa@donasher.com
6. Vanessa will be on call 24/7 during and after the storm. vanessa google voice number is Wi-Fi base 407-425-4561. If there is no power, she may lose access to call the office number. (407) 425-4561 ext.200
7. If you have a local office and the schools have shut down in the area the office will be closed until local officials say it is safe.
Other important items
1. Depending on where you are you could be out of power for up to a week two at most
2. Don’t be alarmed if the cops are knocking on your door to ask you to leave if you are in a low-lying area.
3. Most hurricanes are severe Florida thunderstorm that has a lot of rain. Capable of tornados.
4. Have a plan set in place.
5. Have a hurricane party! Buy snacks and junk food and enjoy the time off with your family.
6. Just ride it out it will be gone in about 12 hours.
7. When it’s a hurricane 4-5 that’s when most people evacuate.
8. Stay away from down power lines and if you have no reason to be out don’t go out save the roadways for 1st responders.
9. Don’t try to rake up the leaves in the wind it’s like fighting a never-ending battle with a toddler.
10. If you get damage from the hurricane don’t hire someone to fix it immediately go through the insurance company the whole reason you have insurance.
11. Do not park your car under a tree or anywhere else that could possibly be at risk of getting damaged if it the possibility to park it on higher ground.
12. The bridges close once the wind gets to 45 mph even 1st responders won’t cross it. So if you have an emergency your screwed.
13. BE CAREFUL OF SCAMMERS
14. Don’t steal sandbags from a construction site it’s a felony during a state of emergency.
15. Do not use your generator in your house or put it in your garage. YOU WILL DIE.
16. Just pay attention and listen to the local city commissioners and law enforcement and you will be just fine.
17. Don’t try to take back the food you just overbought including water because the stores only have to throw it away.
18. Buying 5 mega rolls of toilet paper won’t do you any good when you have raw sewage anyways.
19. Don’t do major yard work before the storm because you will only have to clean it up again.
20. Bring in anything that can be a flying projectile.
